The YVR debate on the 18th January (Telecuraçao and 88Rockorsou) was a great success! It was for the first time that young people of different political lists got the opportunity to participate in a debat with each other and for the people at home to get to know them better.

LAUNCH YOUNG VOTERS ROCK! MAGAZINE

On the 14th of January YPP launched its first magazine about politics, Young Voters Rock!, at Tu tu tango. It is for the first time that a magazine on such an important topic is published on Curaçao. Curtis Meris, Judeska Carlo, Jean-Carlo Alves da Silva and Andrew Servania received the first copies. Young Voters Rock ! is available at different schools and at central places on the island. Get yourself one, if you haven't yet!

December 9, 2009 Un voto Bo Futuro, Pueblo Soberano in the House!

On December 9, 2009 Mr. Mac Cijntje and Colin Trinidad from Pueblo Soberano were our guests. It was fun since they also came with some other young people who also had the oportunity to participate in the radio show.

Debate "LEI KU OTRO"

7th December was a busy day for YPP. Neysa participated, with 5 other young people, in a very interesting debate about the relations within in the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and in particulair the relationship between the Netherlands Antilles and the Netherlands.

INTERVIEW MSI

YVR is on the move. The 4th December, Neysa and Feiza, were pleased to interview the leader of one of the new party for the election of the 22th of January, MSI (Movementu Solushon Isla), Mr. Edgar Leito. The political party is strongly a one issue party and wants, as their name says, to find a solution for our refinery. All result of our interviews will be published in our magazine in January. So keep following us!

On the 1th December Neysa, Jakeema en Prilly got the chance to interview the political leader of Pueblo Soberano, Mr. Helmien Wiels. As you can see, the tv team was also present for an interview. It was an interesting and informative interview.

Last Thursday YVR interviewed PAR political leader, Mrs. Emily de Jongh-Elhage, to find out what their political program is for the next election on the 22th January.

LAUNCH "UN VOTO BO FUTURO"

On the 25th November the launch of our radioprogram on Rockorsou "Un voto bo futuro" was a fact. The program was such a success, that we even got 30 minutes extra air time! We had Almir Godett and Jefferdion Polonius of the FOL as guests and Hans Els of the Combined List. Together with the young voters public the discussion was very dynamic. Tune in again next wednesday at Rockorsou (88.3 FM) from 6pm-7pm!

YOUNG VOTERS ROCK @ DOLFIJN FM

Last Friday Neysa en Feiza were guests at Maarten Schakels' and Tony Castro's radioprogram on Dolfijn FM to promote the Young Voters Rock campaign, that officially was launched on the 16th November. Like always with Maarten and Tony, it was a blast!

Rhona was guest at Drayer & Campman on the 17th November to talk about the launch of the new campaign of Young People and Politics, Young Voters Rock. As everbody knows on the 22th January elections of Parliament are held and it is important that everbody, in particular young people, goes voting and above all votes consciously! 25 September 2009, De Arubaanse Parlementsverkiezingen

Op 25 september hebben Neysa en Michara YPP vertegenwoordigd bij Tele Curacao tijdens de uitslagen van de verkiezingen op Aruba. Zoals bekend heeft de Arubaanse Volkspartij (AVP) de Arubaanse parlementsverkiezingen gewonnen.

AVP krijgt 12 van de 21 zetels in de Staten; Dit is een enorme verschuiving in de Arubaanse politiek. Het eiland werd acht jaar lang geregeerd door de Movimiento Electoral di Pueblo (MEP), die met haar meerderheid in het parlement zonder coalitiepartner kon regeren.

“Het volk heeft voor verandering gekozen” -Mr Eman

AVP beloofde de Arubaanse kiezers afschaffing van een door MEP ingevoerde omzetbelasting. De christendemocraten wensen tevens een betere band met Nederland. Onder MEP-premier Nel Oduber werd de verhouding met Den Haag gekenmerkt door strubbelingen. De meer op Nederland georiënteerde opstelling van AVP zou de staatkundige veranderingen in het koninkrijk der Nederlanden, waarbij ook Aruba goedkeuring moet geven aan de opheffing van het Antilliaanse staatsverband per 2010, kunnen vereenvoudigen. AVP heeft ook beloofd de raffinaderij op het eiland te heropenen.

De Amerikaanse oliemaatschappij Valero sloot de raffinaderij twee weken geleden. Ruim 700 mensen kwamen toen op straat te staan. Beoogd premier Mike Eman wil oliemaatschappijen tegemoet komen met belastingvoordelen als investeerderaftrek en een winstbelastingregime. Aruba heeft te kampen met grote economische tegenslagen. Door de mondiale economische crisis heeft de voor het eiland belangrijke toeristenindustrie te lijden onder het wegblijven van Amerikaanse bezoekers.

September 23, 2009 Shap Politiko

On September 23, 2009 we were guests at Shap Politko together with Eugene Rhuggenaath, ex-politician and Maharo Isenia from the Curacao Development Foundation (CDF).

Rhona represented YPP tremendously in this panel. The topic of today's Shap Politiko was the involvement of young people in politics. We discussed why young people are not so involved in politics and what is it that has to be done to attract them more. We also anounced that we have great plans for the coming period to encourage young people to vote consciously. We didn't tell much, but this project will be made public very soon. It was a great experience and we encourage all YPP'ers to tune in every wednesday at Radio Hoyer 101.9 FM between 17.30 and 19.00 to stay informed.

We are impressed and very sure of the fact that our Pais Korsou has a brilliant future! Today we met with some youngsters aging between 17 and 23 years old and boy they had ideas and energy! It was just great. We had great fun developing a plan for the coming elections.

The project is on its way!
